Leroy F. Wiese, 81, Linn, died Monday, February 2, 2015 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, KS. The family received friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, February 4 at Zion Lutheran Church in Linn. Funeral was at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 5 at Zion Lutheran Church. Serving as pall bearers were his grandchildren, Keil Unruh, Kevin Unruh, Derek Wiese, Eric Wells, Chad Wiese and Brent Wiese. Burial was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. On November 23, 1933, the Lord blessed Otto F. Wiese and his wife, Sophia D. (Lindhorst) Wiese of Hanover, KS with the gift of a son whom they named Leroy Frederick Wiese. The gracious Triune God created within this infant saving faith in Jesus Christ as Savior of his life and received Leroy as a child in His redeemed family through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on December 3, 1933 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hanover, KS. As a child Leroy attended Hanover Grade School and confirmed his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in the Rite of Confirmation on March 26, 1948 at Zion Lutheran Church, Hanover, KS. He graduated from Hanover Rural High School 1953. He served in the US Army and served from 1956-1958 in Germany, California and Missouri. Leroy was united in marriage on June 29, 1958 to Marilyn Rahe at Zion Lutheran Church, Linn, by the Rev. Eugene Eckhardt. They were blessed by the Lord with three children, Jeffrey, April and Michele. He was a carpenter, being employed many years by Tegtmeier Construction, Manhattan, KS, retiring in July, 1998. After that he worked for a few years at Linn Enterprise. Leroy enjoyed fishing and camping, gardening and flowers, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, transferring from St. John Lutheran Church, Idaho Falls, Idaho in August, 1962. Leroy had served Zion in many ways from being a Trustee, Elder and Head Usher. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; and infant brothers, Vernon and Henry; and brother Loyd. He is survived by his wife Marilyn of the home; son Jeffrey and Sherry, Linn; and two daughters, April and Kent Unruh, Clay Center, and Michele and Randy Wells, Emporia; 7 grandchildren, Kiel Unruh, Kevin Unruh, Derek Wiese, Eric Wells, Jordan Unruh, Chad Wiese, Brent Wiese; brother, Lester Wiese and wife Janet, Linn; sister Mary Thomas, Lawrence; and sister-in-law Joyce Wiese, Salina.
