Glen A. Howland, 67, of Shawnee KS, lost his battle with ALS on January 22, 2015 in Overland Park, KS. A celebration of life service will be held at 11AM Saturday January 31st at Ward Funeral Home in Washington, KS with Pastor Judy of Good Shepard Lutheran church officiating. We invite you to a small gathering following the service at the Good Shepard Lutheran Church. Arrangements are by Ward Funeral Home. Glen was born in Fairbury NE to Melvin and Mae Howland in May of 1947. He went to school at Hollenberg High School. He married Shirrolyn Schoen on November 5, 1971 in Washington. He worked as a Supervisor for the Union Pacific Railroad for nearly 40 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army. He was an avid Hobbyist of model trains and displays; restoring 1957 Chevy’s and lending a hand to anyone who asked for help. No job was too big or small for Glen. Glen is survived by his wife Shirrolyn Howland, three daughters – Kimberly Hynek of San Diego CA, Malessia Howland-Pickering and spouse David Pickering of Chicago, IL and Michele Adams and spouse Aaron Adams of Lenexa, KS. One brother, Ronald Howland and spouse Marilyn Howland of Lake George, CO and two grandchildren, Olivia Adams and Alex Pickering. Glen’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Crossroads Hospice and Brookdale Senior Living for their loving care during Glen’s last few months with us.
