John Klozenbucher, 90, of Washington, KS, died Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Washington County Hospital. Visitation will be Monday, January 12 from noon until 8 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 13 at the Morrowville Christian Church. Pastor Ron Brown will officiate. Burial will be in the Washington City Cemetery. John was born on August 22, 1924 at near Greenleaf, KS, to Joseph and Anna (Klataske) Klozenbucher. In 1943, he graduated from Barnes High School. John entered active duty with the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1946. John ran the Washington Appliance Store and repaired appliances until the early 80’s. He then went to work at Hutchinson Royal in Clay Center and farmed near Greenleaf. He was a member of the Morrowville Christian Church and American Legion. John had his pilot license and enjoyed flying. He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant daughters; and brother, Cleo Klozenbucher. Survivors include his wife, Linda; sons, Reggie Klozenbucher, Lincoln, NE, and Gary (Wanda) Klozenbucher, Manhattan; daughter, Marsha (Fritz) Vernon, Milford, NE; brother, Neil (Norma) Klossen, Lee’s Summit, MO; sisters, Marion Rencin, Hanover, and Carol (Greg) Koppes, Greenleaf; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington, KS.
