Sarah Loraine Lindsley

Sarah Loraine Lindsley, 91, of Morrowville, KS, died Sunday, December 14, 2014 at the Homestead Nursing Home in Washington, KS. Visitation was Tuesday, December 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. The family received friends 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 17 at the Morrowville Christian Church. Pastor Ron Brown officiated. Pianist was Cathy Lindsley and Kelly Lindsley sang “All Along the Way.” The congregation sang “In the Garden.” Pallbearers were Larry Coppins, Clint Goodsen, Antonio Espinoza, Almonte Coppins, Braden Hollinger and Brennen Hollinger. Burial was in the Morrowville Cemetery. Loraine was born February 13, 1923, the youngest of three daughters to Lyle D. and Muriel (Tipton) Fraser. She grew up in the Morrowville area and attended grade school and graduated from Morrowville High School in 1940. Loraine attended school in Wichita to become a telephone operator. She moved back to Morrowville and worked as an operator for the Morrowville Phone Office. Shortly after returning, she married Verlin James “Jim” Lindsley, November 25, 1945. He preceded her in death in 1961 from the result of a car accident. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Faith Lindsley, Phyllis Jennings; and first born son, Gary Lindsley. Survivors include daughters, Connie Espinoza, Wichita, Mitzi (Rex) Zenger, Manhattan; sons, Lanny (Pat) Lindsley, Wellington, Kelly (Catherine) Lindsley, Mabank, TX; seven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. A memorial fund is established in her name and will be designated later by the family. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington.
