Dorothy A. Stigge, 60, of Washington, KS, died Friday, December 12, 2014 at the Washington County Hospital. Visitation was Monday from Noon to 8 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service was at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 16, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Greenleaf. Pastor Timothy Lorenz officiated. Arlene Miller played the organ while the congregation sang “Asleep In Jesus”, “On Eagles Wings”, "Lord, Thee I Love With All My Heart” and “Comfort, Comfort, Ye My People”. A recording of "Go Rest High on that Mountain" was played. The pallbearers were Marty Coufal, Dustin Rogge, Greg Scheele, Jonathan Rettig, Gary Montague and Delwin Wiemers. Burial was in the church cemetery. Dorothy was born on December 29, 1953 at Hanover, KS to Willard and Verla (Kruse) Rettig. She graduated from Hanover High School in 1971. On April 12, 1975, she was united in marriage to Dennis Stigge at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hanover. Dorothy worked as a pharmacy tech for the Washington Pharmacy. She enjoyed being with family, cooking and flowers. She taught Sunday school and participated in the Washington County Relay for Life. For her hobbies, Dorothy loved taking photographs of family and friends and collected jewelry. She was preceded in death by her father. Survivors include her husband, Dennis; two children, Traci Stigge, Concordia, KS, and Jeff Stigge, Washington; mother, Verla Rettig, Hanover; siblings, Floyd (Linda) Rettig, Hanover, Kenneth (Dotty) Rettig, Clay Center, and Karen (Dave) Doerr, New Castle, PA. A memorial fund is established to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Washington County Relay for Life.
