Mary Lou Woolard, 81, died Tuesday November 11, 2014 at Boulder, Colorado. Funeral service was 1:30 p.m., Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Ward Funeral Home, Washington with Pastor Randy Jellison-Knock officiating. Sheila Ouellette was organist and Leland Cook sang "In the Garden" and "Hymn of Promise." "Hello Mary Lou" was played by Sheila on the piano. Burial was in Washington City Cemetery. Born in Barnes, Kansas, April 15, 1933, Mary Lou was the third child of Jesse Wayne and Clara Bickel Dodds. She died on November 11, 2014 in Boulder, CO at the age of 81. Mary Lou married Bill R. Woolard on June 28, 1953 in Belleville, Kansas. They moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where her husband attended the University of Nebraska. Following his graduation they were off to Peoria, Illinois for several years before moving to Colorado. Work took them to South Dakota, California, Canada and back to Colorado. Mary Lou worked at the University of Colorado in the College of Engineering retiring after 24 years in 1993. After retirement she enjoyed traveling with her husband in their RV to many places. They also had the opportunity to travel to Europe. When she was home she volunteered serving coffee at the VA hospital and stitched many small coverlets for veterans in wheelchairs. Mary Lou was a very kind and generous person. She would help anyone in need and touched many people during her life. Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 61 years (Bill Woolard) siblings: Elmer Dodds, Robert Dodds (Betty), Donald Dodds, Norma Doran (Ron), and seventeen nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both parents and one brother John Dodds.
