Karen Rae Wingo, 51, died Monday, September 8, 2014 at Manhattan, KS. Visitation was from 2 to 8 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home in Washington, on Friday, September 12, 2014. A funeral service was held 10 a.m., Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the First Baptist Church, Washington. Rev. Kevin Wood officiated. Erin Toole was organist and Rick and Julie Tegethoff sang "How Great Thou Art." The congregation sang "Count Your Blessing" and "In the Garden." Pallbearers were Rick Tegethoff, Paul Weisinger, J.R. Rosenquist, Randy Shank, Gary Dusin and Marc Wingo. Burial was in Washington City Cemetery. Karen was born to Troy and Lila (Shum) Wingo at Isabella Puerto Rico on November 23, 1962. She graduated from Washington High School in 1981. She attended college and went on to work for the Accounting Department at Kansas State University, and in Business Relations. Karen loved sports, watching KSU, K.C. Chiefs and the K.C. Royals. She enjoyed listening to the Oak Ridge Boys and loved to travel, especially to Disneyworld and Las Vegas. Survivors include her mother, Lila Wingo, Washington; father, Troy (April) Wingo, Albuquerque, NM; brother, Marc (Pam) Wingo, Salina; step-sisters, Bobbie, Beryl and Bonnie; two nieces, Amanda and Christina; and her cat, Briley. A memorial fund is established to the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, PO Box 157, Washington, KS 66968.
