Methilda "Tillie" Grover, 84, of Morrowville, KS, died Sunday, January 12, 2014 at the Centennial Homestead Nursing Home, Washington. Visitation was Wednesday, January 15, from noon until 8 p.m., at Ward Funeral Home, Washington A graveside funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 16, at the Washington City Cemetery. Rev. Marilyn Sweet officiated. The pallbearers were Mark Boldt, Scott Grover, Scott Zenger, Kevin Elliott, Adam Grover, Shawn Miller, Nick Johnson and Dane Johnson. The honorary pallbearers were Marci Elliott, Becky Grover, Stacy Zenger, Kristine Grover, Kimberly Miller and Stephanie Boldt. Tillie was born November 10, 1929, in Washington County, KS, to Frank and Anna (Nutsch) Naylor. She grew up around the Morrowville area and on August 15, 1948 was united in marriage to Calvin Grover. She was a phone operator in Morrowville and later worked at Mooren’s Cafe also in Morrowville. She then worked at the Washington County Hospital, M-C Industries in Belleville and at the Linn Community Nursing Home in the kitchen. Her favorite pastime was her grandchildren, taking them to the Shrine Circus or attending rodeo’s. She loved to garden, cook, sew and sell her crafts at area craft shows. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Calvin; and sons, Roy Grover and Cecil Grover. Survivors include her son, Jim (Linda) Grover, Morrowville; daughter, LeaAnn (Brian) Smith, Yates Center; daughters-in-law, LeAnn Grover and Jean Grover, both of Morrowville; brother, Willard Naylor, Kansas City, MO; sisters, Wauneta (Richard) Boerger, Topeka, Carlene (Sonny) Roepke, Waterville; eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
