Frank Eugene Henderson, 88, of Linn, KS, and formerly of Fairbury, NE, died Friday, November 22, 2013 at the Linn Community Nursing Home. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 26 at the 1st Baptist Church in Fairbury, NE. Pastor Joel Hahn officiated. Laurene Staley was organist. The congregation sang "Old Rugged Cross", "Amazing Grace" and "Just As I Am." The pallbearers were Randy Henderson, Ron Southwick, Fred McCowan, Dennis Ahl, Bill Welch and Mark Uhlik. The honorary pallbearers were his golfing team mates, Joe Kongs, Bob Ohlde, Keith Balthazar, Charlie Foster and Jim Smart. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren will also be honorary pallbearers, Kelly Henderson, Tyler Henderson, Brooke Henderson, Kadence Henderson, Quinn Rhoades, Kaley Henderson and Rory John Henderson. Burial was in Rose Creek Cemetery, Reynolds, NE. Frank was born May 28, 1925, at Hollenberg, KS, son of Harry and Marvel (Hoxie) Henderson. He graduated from Hollenberg High School and at the age of seventeen enlisted in the U.S. Navy Armed Guard. In 1945, he was honorably discharged. On December 15, 1945, he was united in marriage to Helen Flora at Fairbury, NE. Frank worked fifty years as a brick layer. The First National Bank in Washington was one of the last projects he helped build before retiring. Frank also built several brick murals through the years. He was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Fairbury, belonged to Brick Layer Union #3, and was a 60 year member of the Masonic Lodge, Elks, VFW and the American Legion in Fairbury. He was an outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. Frank was an avid Nebraska fan and liked watching their games. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Lester Henderson and infant, Harry Henderson. Survivors include his wife Helen, Linn, KS; sons, Gene (Ruth) Henderson, Palmer, KS, and Daniel (Kay) Henderson, Des Moines, IA; sister, June (Harold) Towne, Hanibal, MO; grandchildren, Kelly Henderson and Tyler (Brooke) Henderson; great-grandchildren, Kadence Henderson, Quinn Rhoades, Kaley Henderson and Rory John Henderson; one niece and four nephews.
