VAUGHN E. ALWIN Vaughn E, Alwin, 86, Washington, died, Wednesday, November 16, 2005, in Washington. He was born December 7, 1918 in rural Morrowville, the son of J. Daniel and Edna (Taylor) Alwin. Vaughn graduated from Morrowville High School in 1937 and served in the Army in France during WWII. He worked at the Co-op grain elevator in Washington for 33 years. On May 5, 1946 he married Florence Marie Specht at Fancy Creek Methodist Church, rural Randolph, KS. Vaughn was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lawrence and Max Alwin; two sisters, Shirley Boutz and Ruth Lohmeyer; a grandson and a great granddaughter. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Florence; four sons, Darold Alwin and wife Cindy, LaJuanta, CO, Gary Alwin, Washington, Steve Alwin and wife Barb, Colby, KS, Bruce and wife Bobbi, Sugar City, CO; two daughters, Janet Tillett and husband Larry, Clay Center, Donna J. Alwin, Marysville; 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at the United Methodist Church, Washington, Saturday, November 19, 2005 at 10:30 am. Pastor Phil Morris officiated. Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. Casket bearers were Brad Wilkinson, Doug Wilkinson, Kenton Boutz, Scott Alwin, Marc Alwin and Brandon Alwin. A memorial fund has been established to the United Methodist Church.
