MARTIN W. LAUE Martin W. Laue, 80, Greenleaf, died Thursday November 10, 2005 at Linn, KS. Lieutenant Colonel Laue was born January 9, 1925 at Greenleaf. He was the son of Herman F. and Augusta P. (Rabe) Laue. Martin was a career Regular Army officer and an insurance underwriter for Modern Woodmen of America. LTC Laue entered the US Army in 1945 and served in many capacities from recruitment to the intelligence service until his retirement in 1968. He served in Okinawa, Japan; Berlin Germany: twice at the Pentagon in Washington, DC; Baltimore, MD; Heidelberg, Germany; Southeast Asia; and Junction City, KS where he served as the Provost Marshall at Ft. Riley. After his retirement from the US Army he spent 25 years with Modern Woodmen of America in Junction City, KS. After his second retirement, he and his wife of 59 years moved to his home in Greenleaf, KS in 1995. LTC Laue was always very active in civic organizations and the Lutheran Church, frequently holding the office of President of the Congregation, Sunday School Superintendent, and singing in the choir. On January 31, 1946 he married Dora B. Kloster at Lawrence, KS. She survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Carolyn Westin and husband Chuck, Belleville, KS, Cindy Rogers and husband Randy of Choctaw, OK; five grandsons, Jason Olson and wife Lori of Firestone, CO, Scott Olson and wife Jennifer of Ft. Collins, CO, Seth Olson of Overland Park, KS, Matthew Rogers and Nathan Rogers both of Choctaw, OK; three step granddaughters, Carol DeLong and husband Tim, of Parker, CO, Chris Westin of Aurora, CO, Cindy Westin of Lakewood, CO; one great grandson Alexander Olson; three step great grandchildren, Austin and Samantha Workman, Bailey DeLong; three sisters, Irma Frankie of Junction City, KS, Erylene Snow of Colorado Springs, CO and Rose Marie Christensen of Alexandria, VA. Martin was preceded in death by two brothers, Herman and Eldon Laue. Funeral Service for Martin will be at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Monday, November 14, 2005 at 10:30 am. Pastor David Gruoner will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Casket bearers will be the Ft. Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be November 13, 2005 from 5 to 7 pm at the Ward Funeral Home in Greenleaf, KS A memorial fund has been established to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
