Selma Kolle, 95, Linn, died Monday, September 16, 2013 at Community Memorial Healthcare, Marysville. A funeral service was 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 20 at Ward Funeral Home, Washington, KS. Rev. Steven Kahrs officiated. Sarah Bortulin was organist and accompanied the congregation as they sang, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus' and "I'm But a Stranger Here, Heaven is My Home." Burial was in Washington City Cemetery, Washington, KS. Pallbearers were Brad Kolle, Brian Kolle, Robert Haley, Larry Stigge, Don Sketchley, Nathan Haley and John Stigge, Jr. Selma was born on June 16, 1918 to Fred and Mary (Wendt) Niemann near Hanover, KS. Selma was baptized June 30, 1918 by Rev. Grupe at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hanover and was confirmed by Dr. Rev. Mahler on March 20, 1932. On November 16, 1941, Selma was united in marriage to Raymond Kolle at Trinity Lutheran, Hanover. Raymond and Selma shared and enjoyed 66 years of marriage and were blessed with two sons. Selma was a hard working farm wife, helping with the chores and crops. She gardened and canned the produce. Selma was very caring and loving; she enjoyed being around family and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Raymond on July 25, 2008; son, Vernon; four brothers and two sisters. Survivors include son, Dennis (Ella) Kolle, Greenfield, OH; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Kolle, Hutchinson; sisters, Mildred Stigge, Loretta Stigge, Norma Haley, Verla Harrison , Florence McGrath; two brothers, Walter Niemann, Delmer Koeneke; four grandchildren, Brad (Barbara) Kolle, Plano, TX, Brian (Michelle) Kolle, Amarillo, TX, Michelle (Don) Sketchley, Hutchinson, KS, LaMar Kolle, Cincinnati, OH and eleven great grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established in her name To St. John's Church, Plymouth, NE. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
