Diane Elaine Rogge Wessel, 52, died Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, KS. A Funeral service was held at 4 p.m., Monday, September 9 at Ward Funeral Home, Washington, KS. Pastor Jim Stark officiated. "How Great Thou Art" and "Because He Lives" was played during the service. Burial was in Reiter Cemetery, Strawberry Township. Pallbearers were Ralph Rogge, Fred Rogge, Ralph W. Rogge, Mitch Rogge, Bret Towell and Luke Rogge. Diane was born September 3, 1961 in Washington, Ks, the daughter of Ralph B. Rogge and Ruth (Prior) Rogge. She graduated from Linn High School in 1978. After graduation, she went into the field of Nursing until the late 1980’s. In 1991 she married Fred Wessel and lived in Goff, KS. They later divorced. In 1999 she went to work with A1 Underground Installing Dairy Curtains. She worked alongside her brother doing this until 2003 when she became the Forman and Equipment Operator for Quality Erectors Inc. in Syracuse, Ks. In 2009 Diane was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer and moved to Lindsborg, Ks to be closer to doctors and family. Diane was a very talented artist and love to paint (often on saw blades). She also enjoyed gardening, fishing, and the outdoors, especially the lake. Survivors include her son, Bret Towell of Lindsborg, KS; parents, Ralph & Elizabeth Rogge of Washington, KS and Ruth Roberts of Lindsborg, KS; three brothers, Mitch Rogge, Lindsborg, KS, Ralph Rogge, Linn, KS, and Fred Rogge, Washington, KS; sister, Linda (Fred) Wessel, Sabetha, KS; nephews, Luke Rogge, Clinton White, and Tucker Rogge; nieces, Amy (Chris) Bunting, Makael White, Trisha White, Isabelle Rogge, and Aubrie Rogge; great nephew, Dustin Bunting; great niece, MaKayla, Bunting; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Leonard and Anna Prior; Fred and Edna Rogge. A memorial fund has been established in her name and will be designated later.
