Donald Keith Welch, 57, died Monday, July 15, at his home. A funeral service was held 10 a.m. Thursday, July 18 at Ward Funeral Home. Pastor Randy Jellison-Knock officiated. Sheila Ouellette was organist and accompanied Lauren Holtmeier as she sang "Old Rugged Cross" and "Hymn of Promise." Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ron Howland, Les Gauby, Dick Hinkle, Dennis Shea, Verlin Fulton and Gary Gauby. Don was born at Washington on July 31, 1955 to Keith and Alberta (Corbin) Welch. He attended school at Washington and graduated from Washington High School in 1973. He was married to Victoria Fulton and they had a daughter, Katie. Don and Vicki later divorced. Don worked for Farmers Coop at Washington, Morrowville and Nickerson as a fuel truck driver. He enjoyed cutting wood, attending auctions, mushroom hunting and helping out friends. Don liked having a few with friends and family and never knew a stranger. Surviving him are his parents; daughter, Katie (Jay) Crawford of Casselberry, FL; sisters, Jill (Jerry) Hoover of Washington, Cindi (Ron) Clay of Hollenberg; his girlfriend, Cindy Herrs of Morrowville; and grandchildren, Haylee, Hannah and Noah. A memorial fund has been established in his name and will be designated by the family. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
