Raymond H. Scheele, 77, of Linn, KS, died Saturday, May 25, 2013 at his home. Visitation was Tuesday, 2 to 8 p.m., at Ward Funeral Home in Linn. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 29, at Zion Lutheran Church in Linn. Rev. David Gruoner officiated. Eunice Beier played the organ while the congregation sang “Just as I Am, Without One Plea”, “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art”. The pallbearers Gene Herrs, Bruce Herrs, Aaron Herrs, Adam Herrs, Larry Scheele and Marvin Moormann, Jr. Burial was in the church cemetery. Raymond was born January 29, 1936 on the family farm near Linn, son of Herman and Emma (Meyerhoff) Scheele. He attended Zion Lutheran School in Linn and graduated from Linn Rural High School in 1954. Raymond began farming at an early age and continued farming his entire life near Linn. He also worked at Hoerman Packing Co. in Linn and part-time for several years at Titan West. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and served on the Linn Township Board. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Wilbert H. Scheele. Survivors include his wife, Donna, of the home; three daughters, Vicki Scheele, Washington, KS, Lori Scheele, Linn, and Kim Scheele, Whiting, KS; son, Kent (Karen) Scheele, Washington; two sisters, Lola (Verlin) Herrs, Linn, and Darlene (Marvin) Moormann, Manhattan, KS; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
