Leona W. Frese

Leona W. Frese, 88, of Linn, KS, died Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Washington County Hospital. Visitation was Tuesday, March 12, from 2 to 8 p.m., at Ward Funeral Home in Linn. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 13, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, west of Linn. The pallbearers were Markus Frese, Daniel Herrs, Darwyn Beckmann, Darold Beckmann, Warren Beckmann, Scott Helms, Kevin Helms, Jim Johannes and Jonathan Beckmann. Burial was in the church cemetery. Leona was born September 12, 1924, at Bremen, KS, daughter of John and Wilhelmina "Minnie" (Munstermann) Beckmann. In December 1963, she married Walter Carl Frese at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Bremen. They lived near Clifton, KS. Carl preceded her in death in 1997. In 1998, Leona moved into Linn. Leona was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lutheran Womens Missionary League and VFW Auxiliary. She taught Sunday School at Immanuel. She enjoyed gardening, animals, the outdoors and visiting with people. Her family and her church were very important to her. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Alvin Beckmann. Her brother, Marvin Beckmann of Bremen, KS, survives her, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial fund has been established to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Lutheran Hour. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
