On December 22, 2012, James L. Sprenkle was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 69 years, 1 day, at the Washington County Hospital in Washington, KS. James was born December 21, 1943, in Ventura, CA, to Edward and Katherine Lloyd. On May 22, 1978 in the District Court of Riley County he filed an application to change his name from Ernest James Lloyd to James L. Sprenkle. James was an active member of the Manhattan First Free Methodist Church. He was well known through out the community and his death came as a surprise to all who knew him. James enjoyed collecting bottles of all shapes and sizes. He loved watching all types of sports and was very knowledgable about sporting events. Survivors include his foster sister, Annie Galasi, Discovery Bay, CA; and his payee, Max Bayer; Manhattan, KS. At 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 19, there will be a memorial service to honor James at the Manhattan First Free Methodist church located at 1231 Poyntz Avenue in Manhattan, KS. Arrangements were handled by Ward Funeral Home in Washington, KS. A memorial fund has been established to the Flint Hills Bread Baskets or bring can goods.
