MAUDE MEYER Maude Cathryn Meyer, 102, died Friday, April 29, 2005 at the Homestead Nursing Home, Washington. The daughter of Frank and Mary (Marsh) Lofton, was born June 30, 1902 at McCook, NE. The family moved to Washington when Maude was a child. She attended school at Washington and graduated from Washington High School in 1922. maude attained her teaching certificate and taught school for 18 years at Ballard Falls School, Frog Hollow School, Emmons School and Victory School. Maude also worked at the locker plant in Washington. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She enjoyed quilting at the church and was a member of the ELCA Women’s group of the church. She enjoyed doing gardening, flowers, crafts and playing cards. Maude was united in marriage to Samuel Marlowe in December of 1939. He preceded her in death in 1954. In January of 1965 she married Harry Sawin and her preceded her in death in 1974. Maude married Elmer Meyer in November of 1976 and preceded her in death in 1985. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister Mary Lofton Brunkman; 2 step brothers, Robert and Roy Lofton. Maude is survived by a sister, Alice Show of Quincy, IL; many step children, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Pastor Matthew Kuempel officiated. Interment was at the Washington City Cemetery. Casketbearers were Gene Martin, Merle Gross, Don Zabokrtsky, Bill Kern, Stanley Cairns, Lee Pifer and Brent Martin. A memorial was established to the church.
