Lula H. Wilkens, 88, died Friday, November 09, 2007, at the Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center. Lula was born August 28, 1919 at Strawberry Township to George and Caroling (Roetter) Wilkens. She graduated from High School and worked in the office for the Washington County Creamery, Linn. Lula especially enjoyed her African violets, quilting and embroidery. She and her sister won the open class with one of their quilts at a state fair. Lula is survived by four nephews, Firman Brandt, Calvin Brandt, Dwayne Wilkens, and Dean Wilkens. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Erna Wilkens, Selma Brandt; and two brothers, Frank and Herman Wilkens. A funeral service for Lula will be held, 2:00 pm., Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Deacon Don Dodd will officiate. Barbara Ruhnke is the organist. Congregational Hymns are What A Friend We Have In Jesus, I’m But A Stranger Here, Savior, Again To Thy Dear name We Raise. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Casket bearers are Firman Brandt, Calvin Brandt, Dean Wilkens, Dwayne Wilkens, Delton Beikmann and Doug Beikman. A memorial has been established in her name and will be designated by the family at a later time. Ward Funeral Home, Linn is handling the arrangements.
