WASHINGTON – Ruth Alice Sherlock 81, Washington, died Thursday, January 13, 2005, at her home. Mrs. Sherlock had been a social worker for the state of Kansas. She was born June 18, 1923, in Wichita, the daughter of Alva J. and Alice G Murphy Dryden. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Washington, Chi Omega sorority and AAUW St. Francis. On July 18, 1945 she married Fred Sherlock in Ellsworth. He preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Jimmy, Billy and Bob Dryden. She is survived by three sons, Dr. Peter Sherlock and wife Mary Kay, Washington, Steve Sherlock and wife Judy, Lamar, CO and Todd Sherlock, Leawood; a daughter, Susan Hill and husband Bill, Reston, VA; a sister, Betty McCosh, Thousand Oaks, CA; seven grandchildren and one great grandson. A memorial Mass was held at 11:00 am, Monday January 17, 2005 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Washington. A vigil service was held Sunday evening at the church. Honorary bearers were her grandchildren, Stephanie Sherlock, Alicia Sherlock, Scott Hill, Courtney (Hill) Froelich, Megan Sherlock, Kellen Sherlock and Caitlin Sherlock.
