Gail E. Jones, 64, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Jefferson Community Health Care, Fairbury, NE. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Monday, April 30 at the Presbyterian Church, Washington. Pastor Marilyn Sweet and Sister Marilyn Wall officiated. Gay Lynn Manning played the piano while Dr. Jim Smart sang "There's a Song in the Air" and "How Great Thou Art." The pallbearers were Jim Jones, Jay Peters, Glenn Bekemeyer, Greg Bekemeyer, Dale Kohlmeyer and Robb Kohlmeyer. The honorary pallbearers were Pete Peters and Jim Jones, Jr. Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. Gail was born at Concordia, KS, on March 4, 1948 to Henry “Butch” and Thelma (Kohlmeyer) Tegethoff. In 1965 she graduated from Washington High School. In 1966 she graduated from Brown Mackie Business School. On February 15, 1969, she was united in marriage to Harold Jones, Jr., at Washington, KS. They farmed and ran a trash service in Jackson County and then at Woodland Park, CO. She raised numerous breeds of dogs while on the farm near Wetmore. In 2002, they moved back to Washington and operated Jones Trash Service and farmed. She also worked as a secretary for Lohrengel Tax and Accounting and for Farmers Insurance. Gail was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Washington and was involved in local politics while they lived in Colorado. She was also a member of the saddle club in Colorado and enjoyed spending time with her grandsons and family. Gail played the piano as a child and loved all kinds of animals and flowers. Survivors include her husband, Harold; children, Shelley (Jay) Peters, Jim (GayLynn) Jones, all of Washington; mother, Thelma Tegethoff, Washington; sister, Joan (Jeff) Kugler, Manhattan, KS; brother, Don (Debbie) Tegethoff, Washington; and two grandsons, Jim and Pete. Her father preceded her in death. A memorial fund has been established in her name and will be designated by the family. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
