Donald D. Kramer, 79, of Washington, KS, died Monday, April 2, 2012 at the Washington County Hospital. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 7, at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. Rev. Caleb Turner officiated. Dorothy Gauby played the organ while Dennis Portenier sang "Face to Face" and "Beyond the Sunset". The pallbearers were David Funke, Arthur Massey, Bryce Heck, Larry Scheele, Stanford Stamm and Marc Bryant. Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. Donald was born February 21, 1933 at Agenda, KS, son of Ralph and Millie (Byrd) Kramer. He graduated from Washington High School in 1951. On December 17, 1955 he married Sandra L. Lindsey at Washington, KS. Donald worked on a pipeline until 1956 when he purchased his parents farming operation and moved back to Washington. He later worked for Kansas Department of Transportation in Washington. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming and playing games with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Greenleaf American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Cindy; infant brother, George Henry Kramer; and a sister, Maxine Bower. Survivors include his wife, Sandra; four children, Douglas (Diane) Kramer, Belleville, KS, Michael Kramer, Greenleaf, KS, Mary Beth (Mose) Allen, Manhattan, KS, and Tim (Dawn) Kramer, Washington, KS; one brother, Loren (Velda) Kramer, Smith Center, KS; three sisters, Lorene Carlson, Manhattan, Marcele Harry, Wichita, KS, and Betty O'Grady, Yankton, SD; fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
