Wellington "Mark" Radford, Jr., 82, died Sunday, February 19, 2012 at the Linn Community Nursing Home. A funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 22, at the First Baptist Church, Washington. Pastor Paul Hutchison officiated. Sheila Ouellette played the organ while Pastor Paul Hutchison sang “Amazing Grace” and the congregation sang “Old Rugged Cross.” The pallbearers were his grandsons, Brian Butters, Sgt. Roy Henry, Tim Henry II, Ted Henry, Kass Buettgenbach and Zaine Willesden. Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. Mark was born on June 7, 1929 at Ellensburg, WA, son of Wellington Mark, Sr., and Alice Lorene (Frease) Radford. He attended Seattle area schools and joined the Navy at age nineteen. After his discharge, he worked in the oil fields near Great Bend, KS. He married Margaret Louise Webster. They later divorced. Mark liked to travel and visited all 50 states. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and animals, especially dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant son, Durward Eugene Radford. Survivors include his daughters, Angelina (Tim) Henry, Ellinwood, KS, Tammy (Ray) Gano, Washington, Janice Radford, Washington, Cynthia (Philip) Meinecke, Palmer; sixteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to Meadowlark Hospice. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
