Betty "Jean" Adams, 81, died Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Blue Valley Nursing Home, Blue Rapids. A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 17, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Linn. Rev. Tom Sahl and Rev. Dennis Holst officiated. Anita Singular, organist, played congregational hymns, "I Know That My Redeemer Lives", "Amazing Grace" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Palmer. Pallbearers were Alan Oehmke, Gary Oehmke, Mark Winter, Jim Winter, Terry Oehmke, Randy Oehmke and Dennis Oehmke. Betty Jean Adams was born September 3, 1930 at Omaha, NE. She lived in Colorado most of her adult life. She moved back to Washington, in November of 1992, to be near family. In October of 1998 she moved to Waterville, so her daughter could participate in the Twin Valley Workshop at Greenleaf, Kansas, and she could work in Marysville for the hospital. She held numerous jobs including, secretarial work, day care provider, foster parent, and a CNA at a hospital and nursing home. She also worked for Marcon Pies. Betty Jean was a member of Valley Lutheran Church in Denver, St Paul Lutheran Church in Palmer and The Church of Christ in Marysville. Preceding her in death were her husband, Robert Adams; her parents, Albert and Bessie (Long) Oehmke; brother, Lawrence Oehmke; sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Dean Winter; and an infant sister, Ruby Mae Oehmke. Jean is survived by daughter, Jeannine Adams, Greenleaf; brothers, Harold (Donnette) Oehmke, Linn, Charles (Miriam) Doremus, Colorado Springs, CO; sister Bonnie LaVelle, Polk, NE; sister-in-law, Madelyn Oehmke, Palmer; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial fund has been established in her name and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
