Laura Ellen Day Waterman was born December 8, 1906 died in Washington County hospital August 30th, 2011, at the age of 104. Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Pastor Judy Hill officiated. Dr. James Smart sang “The Lord’s Prayer” and “I Know That My Redeemer Lives”, accompanied by Sheila Ouellette. Burial was in Washington City Cemetery. Pall bearers were Kenny Schoen, Neil Waterman, Gary Stamm, August “Red” Dusin, Dr. James Smart and Richard Tegethoff. Laura was the daughter of Nathan Kimball and Myrtle Eugenia (Faulk) Day. She was born and raised in Washington County. Graduated from Scruby Country School and attended two years of high school at Washington. She married George William Waterman March 4th, 1927. Laura and George left the farm and moved to Washington in 1949. Laura clerked in the JC Penny store for 13 years. Laura was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. She was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Washington. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, George; and a daughter Bonnie Loree Underwood. She is survived by one daughter Marianne Haag of Osage City, Kansas; 5 grand children and many great, and great-great grand children.
