Audrey L. Clay, 85, died Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Gardenside LTC in Fairbury, Nebraska. A graveside funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 8 at the Hollenberg Cemetery, Hollenberg. The Rev. Paul Carpenter officiated. Audrey was born June 26, 1926, at Hollenberg, Kansas, daughter of Frank A. and Maude A. (Price) Wilson. In 1943, she graduated from Hollenberg High School. On December 26, 1946, she was united in marriage to Raymond F. Clay at Wathena, Kansas. Audrey was chief telephone operator at Hollenberg for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and watching mysteries. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, on November 23, 1969; sister, Marilyn Crook; and an infant grandson. Survivors include her sons, Ron (Cindy) Clay, Mike (Sandy) Clay, and Terry Clay, all of Hollenberg, Jerry Clay, Steele City, Neb., and his girlfriend, Melanie Brandt, Odell, Neb.; sister, Kay Prell, Hanover; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established will be designated at a later time. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
