Tyler Kyle Burt, 19, Washington, died June 9, 2007 at Wilson Lake. He was born September 6, 1987 at Hanover to Todd Bury and Mary Theresa Taylor. Tyler attended grade school and high school in Washington, graduating in 2006. He was attending Fort Hays State University on a scholarship, majoring in physical therapy. He was also a member of the university’s track team. Tyler was very active in sports at WHS, participating in basketball, football, and track all four years. During his senior year, he was named to the first team All-TVL as an offensive end in football and was chosen to the second team as a defensive end. He was also named to the second team All-TVL basketball team. He earned three medals at the state track meet in Wichita his senior season. He also participated in FFA, Art Clubv, baseball and Boy Scount and was a honor roll student. Besides sports, his hobbies included fishing, reading and music. Tyler is survived by his parents, Dana and Theresa Herrs, Washington, Todd and Laurie Burt, Washington; brother Brett Herrs, Washington; stepbrother, Trevor Dicksoni, San Diego, CA; step sister, Amanda Craig and husband Jay, Springdale, AR; his beloved, Trista Hynek; grandparents, Terry and Jan Taylor and Marilyn Burt all of Washington. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Edwin Burt. Funeral service was held at the Washington County High School, 11:30 am, Wednesday, June 13, 2007. Pastor Phil Morris officiated. Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. Casket bearers were, Garett Edgar, Josh Turner, Kyle Alexander, Michael Gilliam, Travis Lehman and Alex Snapp. The Tyler Burt Scholarship Fund has been established.
