Rita R. McClure 74, died Tuesday, July 5, at the Washington County Hospital. A graveside service was held 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 11 at the Washington City Cemetery. Pastor Randy Jellison-Knock officiated. Rita was born in Torrance, California on March 2, 1937 to Lawrence and Zelda (Doebele) Waser. In August of 1947 they moved to Washington. Rita graduated from Washington High School in 1954. She moved to Rapid City, SD and was married to Ralph McClure on August 15, 1957. They later divorced. Rita worked as a computer technician for Service Fed Credit Union and later for a clothing manufacturer, DaMart. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting, working crossword puzzles, and building with legos. Watching all kinds of sports on television was another favorite pastime. She loved reading about and watching the royal families. Rita enjoyed being around people, was very generous and would help anyone. Preceding her in death were her parents and sister, Juanita Waser. Rita is survived by her children, Tanya McClure, Hartford, CT, Rachele (Martin) Wright, Alton, NH, Robin McClure, Manhattan, KS, Lawrence McClure, Durham, NH, R.J. (Christine) McClure, Centerville, MA; two sisters, Janice (Pete) Williams, Beverly Fritz both of Washington; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to the Washington County Library. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
