Helen Marie Meyerhoff, 91, of Linn, Kansas, died Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the Linn Community Nursing Home. A funeral service was held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday. May 22, at St. John Lutheran Church, Palmer. Pastor Gene Holtorf officiated. The pallbearers were Matthew Meyerhoff, Lance Meyerhoff, Kurt Meyerhoff, Grant Meyerhoff, Bryan Balch and Erik Zabokrtsky. Burial was in the church cemetery. Helen was born April 26, 1920 at Palmer, Kansas, the daughter of Henry W. and Esther (Meyer) Meyerhoff. On April 27, 1920 she was baptized by the Rev. J.G.B. Keller and was confirmed on March 25, 1934 by Pastor Keller. Helen was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Palmer. She taught Sunday school for ten years and was active in the Local Zone and District Walther League. She was a member of Tabitha, LWML, Linn View Manor Housing Board, Community Nursing Home Board and was a Hospice Volunteer. She was employed at the Linn State Bank for five years and then with Kuhlman Implement and Hardware Inc. for thirty-seven years, retiring in 1987. She enjoyed making and donating many quilts to the Lutheran World Relief and Orphan Grain Train. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Herbert; sister-in-law, Enola Meyerhoff; and brother-in law, Gary Meyer. Survivors include sisters, Loma Meyer, St. Paul, Minnesota, and Ruth (Al) Senske, St. Louis, Missouri; nine nephews and nieces; and twenty-five great-nephews and nieces. Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church of the donor’s choice. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
