Isabelle Margaret Brungardt, 92, died Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the Linn Community Nursing Home. A rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 12 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Washington. Mass of Christian Burial was held 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 13 at the church. Fr. David Metz officiated. Sheila Ouellette played the organ while Christy L'Ecuyer sang "Prayer of St. Francis", "Amazzing Grace", "How Great Thou Art" and "Let There Be Peace On Earth." The pallbearers were her grandsons, Randy Brungardt, Jeff Brungardt, Scott Brungardt, Travis Brungardt, Andy Prellwitz, Ed Willbrant, David Willbrant, Troy Blenderman and Paul Bridges. Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. Isabelle was born at Park, Kansas on May 18, 1918 to John and Elizabeth (Kinderknecht) Linenberger. On May 28, 1935, she was united in marriage to Bernard “Ben” Brungardt at Oakley, Kansas. In 1936 she and Ben moved to Washington County and farmed. They moved to Washington in 1957. Isabelle worked at the Steak House for 10 years and then worked at the school as a cook until she retired in 1983. She was a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church, a member of the Altar Society and belonged to the Bondville Club. Isabelle enjoyed socializing, entertaining, and helping others. She was an excellent baker, did sewing, raised flowers and especially enjoyed being with her family. Preceding her in death were her husband Ben on November 26, 2001; brothers, Victor, Al and Omer Linenberger; sisters, Frances Brungardt, Irene Specht and Betty Burnette; and a great grand child. Surviving her are sons, Robert Brungardt (Dona) of Auburn, NE, Larry Brungardt (Karen) of Tucson, AZ, Jerry Brungardt (Sandi) of Frederick, CO, Dennis Brungardt (Christy) of Shawnee; daughters, Betty Prellwitz (Lee) of Morrowville, Clarabell Blenderman (Spencer) of Ashland, NE, Judy Bridges (David) of Washington; brothers, Elmer Linenberger (Alvina) of Deepwater, MO, Jack Linenberger (Bonnie) of Kansas City, MO, Phil Linenberger of Blue Rapids; sisters, Edna Moore (John) of Phoenix, AZ, Harriet Smith of Kansas City, MO, Agnes Marsteller (Ray) of Washington; brother-in-law, Jim Burnett of St. Charles, MN; and 20 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established in her name and will be designated by the family at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
