Rudolph E. Nutsch, 85, of Haddam, died Monday, April 18 at the Washington County Hospital. A funeral service was held 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 22, at The United Methodist Church, Haddam. Pastor Randy Jellison-Knock officiated. Betty Zenger accompanied Heath Hoag as he sang “Amazing Grace” and “Old Rugged Cross.” Burial was in the Haddam City Cemetery, Haddam, Kansas. Pallbearers were Perry Nutsch, Robert Nutsch, James Nutsch, Steven Nutsch, Mike Nutsch, Gene Nutsch and Kenneth Hauschel. Rudolph was born February 1, 1926 near Haddam, Kansas, the son of Max and Clara (Zurfluh) Nutsch. After attending the Haddam Grade School he helped his family farm near Haddam. Rudolph was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in WWII. After his Honorable Discharge he returned home and farmed with his family once again. Later with his brother, Herman, they raised crops and cattle near Haddam. Rudolph always enjoyed investing back into their farming operation. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Alfred and Kenneth Nutsch; and an infant brother. Survivors include three brothers, Herman Nutsch, Washington; Frank (Martha) Nutsch, Morrowville, and Paul (Helen) Nutsch, Russell, Kan.; and nieces and nephews. A memorial fund has been established to the church. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
