Wayne L. Neu, 89, of Washington, Kansas, died Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Homestead Nursing Home. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 24 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Washington. The Rev. Judy Hill officiated. Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. Wayne was born December 10, 1921 in rural Washington to Jacob and Laura (Waterman) Neu. He served in the Army during WWII. Wayne worked as a crane operator for Washington County. He also worked as a brick layer for Stamm Masonry and volunteered at Friendly Corners. Wayne would grow a large garden every year and was proud of the produce he would grow. He enjoyed being outdoors and liked to hunt and fish. Going to sporting events and watching his grandchildren was always gratifying. On January 22, 1950, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Easter at Washington. She preceded him in death on July 5, 1982. He was also preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Jim Clark; brothers, Jacob in infancy and Clyde. Surviving him are his daughter, Terri Clark of Washington; granddaughters, Mistina Baker (Jerry) of Morrowville, Stephanie Kern (Ryan) of Washington; brother, Robert Neu (Betty) of Washington; sisters, Pearl Hogan of Batesville, AR., Doris LeMaster (Fred) of Tulsa, OK; sister-in-law, Dorothy Neu of Washington; and 2 great grandchildren, McKenzie and Tanner Baker.
