Darlene Stolzer, 64, of Washington, Kansas, died Monday, January 3, 2011 at her home,surrounded by family, following a lengthy illness. A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 5 at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. Collin Stolzer officiated. Darlene Della “Allen” Stolzer was born to Jim and Della “Lattimer” Allen in Lander, Wyoming in 1946. Mrs. Stolzer graduated from Dubois High School and then received her nursing degree in 1971 from The University of Wyoming in Laramie. She was an amazing and caring LPN for 37 years and a former EMT for Fremont County in the 1980's. Mrs. Stolzer’s family was the most important thing to her and her family described her as the most selfless person you would ever hope to meet. On June 16, 1995 she married Ken Stolzer and after living in Douglas, Wyo. and Thermopolis, Wyo., they moved to Kansas to live on his family’s farm. Mrs. Stolzer enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and rock hounding, playing Bingo, collecting spoons and playing Canasta with her family. She also enjoyed cooking large meals for her family at gatherings. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Della Allen; and step-son, Kenneth “Bunky” Stolzer. Survivors include her husband, Ken of Washington, Kan.; son, Robert Hiser, Greenleaf, Kan.; Bill Hiser and wife, Dana, Lander, Wyo.; two step-sons, Collin Stolzer and wife, Bobbie Jo, Washington, Kan., Chris Stolzer and his partner, Mary, Thermopolis, Wyo.; stepdaughter, LaRee Schaaf and husband, John, Carpentersville, Ill.; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
